Carrie Underwood’s latest workout buddy is definitely her cutest; the country music star shared a video of herself showing some asanas to her two year old son, Isaiah.
Her Instagram video featured the young mother taking little Isaiah through three asanas: Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), and ending appropriately with Balasana (Child’s Pose). In the video, Underwood also showed him some calisthenics exercises, namely push-ups and squats, although the little man seemed to prefer acting as additional weight for his mommy’s squats than doing them on his own.
Underwood said that she has been trying to stay flexible in how she maintains her personal fitness while still balancing her family and career.
“I do whatever I can and make time for it. Isaiah goes down for a nap, I’ve been in my workout clothes all day long, I’m there, I’m ready, I make it happen,” she told ET at the 2017 Grammy Awards. “If it’s 15 minutes, that’s good. If it’s an hour, that’s great. It just happens when and how it happens.”
It’s clear that the fitness session was spontaneous since Isaiah was still wearing his onesie pajamas (with a fire truck pattern). The unplanned nature of the workout may also be why Underwood’s form wasn’t perfect, though she did some to be aware of this.
Underwood first achieved fame as the winner of American Idol in 2005, progressed further into a highly successful music career. Her accolades include being termed “Country Music’s Reigning Queen” by Billboard and “the female vocalist of her generation of any genre” by Rolling Stone.
Underwood is vegan, and was voted “World’s Sexiest Vegetarian” twice by PETA. She married Mike Fisher, a noted hockey player and captain of the Nashville Predators, in 2010. Isaiah is their son.
