The last few weeks of 2016 saw the Mannequin Challenge craze take over social media. Various celebrities have gotten in on the frozen challenge, and many creative yoga practioners have even posted some #MannequinChallenge hashtagged videos of their own. Even famed teacher Sadhguru of Isha Hatha Yoga has posted his own version of the challenge on social media, complete with some teachings on the importance of Hatha yoga.
According to Inverse, the video craze began with some highschool students from Jacksonville, Florida, USA in October. The teenagers stood in front of their classroom in frozen poses and uploaded the video to the Twitter account @thvtmelanin_. They challenged another friend to do the same and the #MannequinChallenge was born.

Many Hollywood celebrities have posted their own versions of the challenge, and even some yoga schools and celebrities uploaded their videos as well.
On Dec. 17, the Isha School of Yoga posted their take on the challenge to Facebook and YouTube, complete with Sadhguru explaining the importance and benefits of Hatha yoga.
“This is not an exercise. This is not twist[ing] and turn[ing]. This is not stretching. This is a way of realigning your system to the cosmic symmetry that that you are a perfect receptacle to everything…” Sadhguru explained in a voiceover in the video.
Dozens of Isha Yoga students of all nationalities stayed motionless in various asana all over the grounds of the Isha Yoga School in the video that many commenters described as simply blissful.
Jaggi Vasudev, or Sadhguru as he is more popularly known, is an Indian mystic and yoga teacher who has also written a New York Times bestselling book. His non-profit Isha Foundation teaches yoga programs all over the world including India, the United States, Canada, Lebanon, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Uganda, Australia, the UK, and other countries.
